Katya SCHOKALSKI

Katherine was born in Russia and grew up in Moscow. She received her Master’s degree from the department of Journalism of Moscow State University. Just before leaving for the West, she wrote her Ph D. thesis in the field of Applied Sociology.

Like many of her age and background, she emigrated from Russia to Germany and later from Germany to Canada. Katherine published a number of articles and short-stories in Toronto, Montreal and Tbilisi. At the moment she is writing a trilogy about the adventures of Russian emigrants in Europe and North America.

Fyodor Dostoyevsky once said that a human being himself is the biggest mystery of all, and if in lifetime someone manages to reveal even a small segment of this mystery one’s life is not wasted. Katherine’s stories may bring us a little closer to understanding of the mystery of ourselves: who we are and what makes us love, hate and live…
